Stock up on safety gear and help flatten the curve in NYC. We bought a large inventory of FDA Registered KN95 masks so we could provide the safest work environment for our team working through this pandemic; and ordered extra to provide them to our fellow NYers. KN95 masks are the approved mask by the Chinese government and certain factories, such as the one we sourced from, have been approved by the FDA to sell to America. The difference between KN95 and N95? While they are both required to filter at least 95% of particulate matter with a 0.3 micrometer diameter, the KN95 was designed for comfort because they needed to be worn for long periods of time by the general public during pollution black outs. Not all KN95s are created equal though, and after testing many models we found these to be the most comfortable with the best tight fit.
We take safety very seriously so we took things a step further. Ten masks were sent to a CDC approved lab here in the US in order to check their filtration efficiency. The test results show the mask with the lowest efficiency at 99.0% and the mask with the highest efficiency at 99.5%. These filtration rates meet the criteria of an N99 respirator!
The factory that makes these masks are also producing masks to healthcare workers in America; your face mask will not be taking away from a healthcare worker.
As essential workers, we have tried out a lot of masks and these have been the most comfortable.
Highly effective masks like KN95 or N95 masks are near impossible to find or pricing is extremely bloated. According to the FDA, surgical and single use masks do not filter or block very small particles in the air that may be transmitted by coughs or sneezes because of the loose fit between the surface of the mask and your face. Cloth masks are porous, according to chief of staff at Toronto's Humber River Hospital, and the effectiveness has not been studied enough.
FDA registered masks that have been tested for high filtration efficiency and tested on humans to fit properly on your face. It is recommenced to clean your hands with soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitizer before putting on a mask. Avoid touching the mask while using it and clean your hands if you do. Email us if you would like to see a copy of the test results showing the filtration efficiency.
